Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA)

Host: Rabbit

FP RE

Rabbit anti-PSMA stained prostate cancer.

This polyclonal antibody reacts with human PSMA (prostate-specific membrane antigen). PSMA is highly expressed in prostate secretory acinar epithelium, in some benign extraprostatic epithelial cells from breast, duodenum, and kidney tissues, and in prostate cancer. On the basis of its highly prostatespecific nature, PSMA has been used as a prostate cancer marker antigen and diagnostic target for prostate cancer detection. Findings suggest that PSMA may be an effective target for monoclonal antibody–based antineovasculature therapy. This may be particularly true for antibodies directed against epitopes within the C-terminal region of PSMA, based on the high degree of accessibility for antibody binding due to the extracellular location of this domain.
Immunogen source: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of the human PSMA protein. Positive tissue: Prostate cancer. Expected staining pattern: Cytoplasmic/membrane.
